Mid January Update

Dear supporters, we have a progress update. 

Although we planned to send the shipment at the end of January, we are postponing until the second half of February

While the axe blade went through our technical QC process with flying colors, we are not happy with the appearance of the blade. While function is important, we feel that the design and look of the tool has to match function. When you look at the pictures (see below), I’m sure you will agree with our decision. We want this product to be perfect. 

Another series of production has started for the axe blades and we are now waiting on their arrival.

Besides that we are almost ready with the rest of the parts. We will start partial assembly next week and get the cartridges, knife, saw and more ready to go (more pictures below). 

We will continue to update weekly now until the tools are sent to you.

Late-December Update

Images from the production run of the glass-reinforced nylon parts for the Combar. You can see the knife handle; insert and holster. All parts are looking good and are meeting specifications. In Israel there is no Holiday break so we will be working through the next days as normal. Hopefully you will all have a break from work and some family or personal time over the Holiday period. Looking forward to updating again in the next two weeks. More pics to come soon.

Mid-December Update

Finished parts continue to arrive from the suppliers. Feels like the holidays already with all the boxes turning up. All the parts must first go through our own QC process before being sent over to the team responsible for assembly. Pleased to tell you that everything that has been tested so far, is meeting our standards. We have two of our team visiting all the metal and accessories suppliers (plastics are done locally because of the expertise here) to discuss long term production plans and QC so will hopefully get you another update in two weeks.

Thanksgiving update

Here is a cool video of the investment casting process for the COMBAR Titanium spade. First wax versions of the spade are made. They are then linked together into a tree and coated evenly in ceramic slurry which hardens to form the actual mould. The wax is melted out and the ceramic is baked. The individual spades are then cast in a vacuum at around 3200 F. The last process shows the ceramic being vibrated off by a knockout hammer.
